Why opt for a 1.5'' board sauna instead of 1''?
A 1.5'' plank sauna offers 50% more insulation and twice as much structural rigidity. It is easier to heat, stronger, more durable and has a massive appearance for better aesthetics.
How to choose between white cedar and red cedar? What are the advantages and disadvantages?
How long to heat the sauna?
The heating time is longer in winter than in summer because the cold structure absorbs heat. About 30-45 minutes for an electric stove, 15-20 minutes for a wood stove.
What should I plan for the installation of my sauna?
Provide a flat, stable location with good drainage for the base of the sauna. An electrical connection is required for an electric stove (8kW, 40amp, 220v). For a wood stove, provide 10 feet of clearance around the chimney.
Should I stain or protect my sauna?
Staining is optional. Untreated, cedar turns gray without impacting durability. A light stain protects against UV rays and delays graying. Dark stains degrade more quickly and must be redone every 2 years.
Is it possible to start the electric stove remotely?
Yes, remote control stove options are available. Look for WIFI in the electric stove choices. You will be able to control all the functions of your sauna from your cell phone.
Where are your saunas made?
Our saunas are made in the heart of the Laurentians! Our workshop is located in Amherst in the Laurentians.
